This application was developed by the KBASE research group to calculate the Amyloid Prediction Index (API), which predicts the risk for in vivo cerebral amyloid deposition in cognitively impaired patients (amnestic type mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer’s disease dementia) with information that are routinely gathered in memory clinic practice.
The information used for the API include age, sex, duration of formal education attainment, history of hypertension, apolipoprotein E (APOE) genotype, and the raw score of word list recall test in the CERAD neuropsychological battery – all of which can be easily obtained in a memory clinic setting.
The algorithm of the API is published in Frontiers Aging Neuroscience (Lee et al., 2018, 10:309, doi: https://doi.org/10.3389/fnagi.2018.00309) and is protected under patent law of Republic of Korea (Patent No. 10-2017-0162235). Only non-commercial utilization of this application by clinicians is permitted by the patent owners.
The development of this application was supported by a grant from the Ministry of Science and ICT, Republic of Korea (Grant No. NRF-2014M3C7A1046042).
