All KBASE Participants underwent two-sessions of PET-MR scanning to obtain multi-modal imaging including [11C]PiB-PET, [18F]FDG-PET, MRI, and MRA using a 3.0T Biograph mMR (PET-MR) scanner.
The KBASE study is first large cohort study using simultaneous PET-MR. With the machine,a participant’s MR and PET images were obtained simultaneously in the same position. This is another distinct characteristic of the KBASE. Using PET-MR, we could reduce scanning time and exposure to radiation and much improve convenience for the participants. This also improved registration of PET images to MRI for image analyses.
